Special education is a complex, evolving topic. Adequate training and understanding of the subject matter of special education is critically important for anyone who hopes to have success mediating disputes in this complex, evolving area.
There is presently a lack of guidance and training in mediating disputes that arise in the context of special education. Due to this lack of adequate training, these disputes are often left to general practice mediators or attorneys without specialized training in the topic. This Certificate Workshop intends to fill this training gap.
This four-session comprehensive workshop in Special Education Mediation will teach you everything you need to know to embark on your journey as a Special Education Mediator.
This workshop has been created to provide a clear understanding of what special education looks like today, and an easy-to-understand, linear process for mediating the disputes that arise between schools and parents and caregivers of Special Children.
It is intended to provide valuable information for educators, school administrators, parents and caregivers of Special Children, and the specialists who work with them, as well as mental health, legal and mediation professionals.
Program participants are trained as private practice mediators and set their own fees, generally on a per session hour basis. Many incorporate special education mediation as a new service to an existing practice, or as a new business altogether.
There is a growing need for assistance in mediating Special Education disputes between parents or caregivers of Special Children and their schools, so this training is well-timed.
Graduates of this Workshop learn how to mediate special education cases in any state, not just the state in which they reside or receive their special education mediation training.
